| Guess who else turns 70 this season? A Russian boy
named peter! Peter and the Wolf was first performed in 1936
and the Philharmonic celebrates with a choreographed performance
of this audience
favorite, featuring the Tuscarawas Dance Arts Center. A Drumpet,
you say? What on earth is a Drumpet? Well, don't forget--we SAID
there might be some surprises this season! |

Construct your own Drumpet!
Preceding the concert,
at 1:30, renowned music educator and drumpet inventor Dr. Craig
Woodson will
hold a
workshop
in the
Dover High cafeteria, at which children and their accompanying
adults will construct their very own “drumpets” (cost
$3) and then play them with the orchestra during the concert. Dr.
Woodson,
master percussionist, has specialized in showing young people how
to make simple musical instruments from a plastic spoon, deli containers,
a straw, and a Slurpee dome. No preregistration is necessary and
parents or other adults are welcome to participate also. |
