How does bidding work?
Proxy bidding is the method used on our online auction.
It allows the bidder to win the auction item at the lowest possible price.
You enter your “Maximum Bid” when you begin bidding on an
item, and your bid is increased only when someone else bids against you
and then only by the increment set for that item, up to your maximum.
(For instance, if the bid increment for an item has been set at $5, the
bid will be raised by that amount each time one bidder outbids another.
If you set a maximum bid of $30 for an item, but only $25 is needed to
outbid the second bidder, then you will only pay $25.)
Proxy bidding automatically places bids on your behalf,
moving up by the bid increments preset for each item–but only up
to the highest amount you have indicated you are willing to pay, and
only as needed
when someone else has outbid you. Your bid will NOT be raised higher
than the amount you have indicated is your maximum. You will be notified
by email if you are outbid and you can raise your maximum at any time,
till the item is sold.
